"Holding the beauty of Japan", is the main concept of Japan Craft Book project.
The project started in December 2021.
This book is a compilation of the newsletter written by Mayumi Inagaki, founder of Japan Craft Book project.

She was inspired to create a book that told the story of Japanese gods on Washi(Handmade Japanese paper) after coming across the Indian picture book "The Night Life ofTrees" (Tara Books) in 2021.
She is the director of Atelier & Gallery Ichirin (Kamakura).

"Kami-mukae" is an all handmade art book created by a group of a painter, writer, calligrapher, a mounting artist, designer, washi-craftsmen with the concept of "Tell the story of the Japanese Gods in Washi ーJapanese Handmade Paper"
We gathered finest skills of them.
This work, which tells the story of Oki-Dozen Kagura at Takuhi Shrine, is available in "Special Version" and "Shorin Version".

〈Takuhi Shrine (Nishinoshima, Oki Islands, Shimane)〉
The story takes place at Takuhi Shrine, founded in the Heian Period (794-1185 or 1192)
Takuhi Shrine is dedicated to a deity of marine safety.
The rearmost building underneath the cliff face was prefabricated in Osaka and carried up the mountainside piece by piece in 1732.
〈Kagura & Oki-Dozen Kagura〉
Kagura is a type of Shinto ritual ceremonial dance that has roots in ancient rituals and legends. One of major function of Kagura is purifying and shaking the spirit.
The story of “Kami-mukae” is based on Oki-Dozen Kagura.
The Kagura dedicated to the annual festival at Takuhi Shrine and it is particular in Dozen Islands(Oki Islands, Shimane).
